Started making the fittings being rotational axis of the front suspension arms.
March 21, 2006
I got the fittings carefully aligned with the frame, and welded. I painted the welded parts for temporary anti-rust purpose.
Brackets for upper mount of shock absorbers are ready.
I also made a pair of adaptors to allow me to choose shocks from a wide range of length.
Got started making the front suspension arms. I concentrated to precisely cut the steel materials into predetermined lengths, trimmed the extremities, put holes, and weld the all together.
April 23, 2006
T-shape at the center, built up by welding while holding perpendicularly together carefully.
Scrap pieces work as welding fixture, as well as the frame already completed.
Greasing the rod ends, and...
I got the front suspension arms temporarily assembled into the frame, although they are not yet completed.
The arms were heavier than expected.
King pins. The component being pressed into the king pin by a vise is a spacer from a real wheel of Kawasaki GPZ400R, but into size. The internal diameter is 17mm.
Assembled the all temporarily.
The front tyre and the wheel are from my first buggy. The axle bearing is with 17mm for internal diameter.
April 30, 2006
I finally put reinforcement bars at the rearward to get the arms completed.
March 5, 2006
Mounting brackets for pivots of swing type rear suspension arm.
Holes that may look too much are for weight reduction reason.
May 23, 2006
I am going to use steel pipe of the sectional dimension in 30mm x 60mm.
The frame only works as a welding fixture to build it up.
May 27, 2006
The arm itself is completed, and...
Brackets of suspension units (shock absorber assemblies).
I put the all on the suspension arm for tempolary fixation by using as many as 10 pieces of C-shape clamps to got it welded.
June 4, 2006
I also got the brackets for drive shaft bearings in place, and the arm assembly is almost complete.
